We went to Roca Berry Farm for the first time as a family. Amelia went to a pumpkin patch last year at daycare, but this was the first time for the rest of us!! A good time was had by all!!!
Amelia LOVED these big air pillows they had for jumping! (I liked them, too, but fortunately no one got a picture of me jumping!)
There was an old woman who lived in a shoe...
They had an area full of corn kernels (like a sandbox), it was pretty fun until P tried to eat the kernels! Amelia also enjoyed taking pocketful of kernels over to the pigs and feeding them!
She attempted a "corn angel" (only in Nebraska....!)
Happy boy!!
The pigs (she's probably feeding them pilfered corn)....
My little pumpkins with some pumpkins
Pierson LOVED this slide and would squeal and jump up and down in my arms when we hit the stairs to do it again!
Hayrack ride
P was ready to go home!!

We are in trouble....
*We were visiting family in Kansas a couple of weeks ago. Amelia has been digging for gold in her nose so much lately--we struggle with it and trying to keep her fingers outta there! Well, it was a typical day where we had to keep reminding her to stop mining, and that evening, I caught her with her hand in my Mom's new cup of ice water. She was trying to fetch a piece of ice.
Me: Amelia, get your hand out of grandma's water! That's rude to stick your
hand in other people's drinks!! Mom, you'll need to get new water, she
had her hand in it.
Amelia: Uh, Mom, the boogers are on THIS hand (holding up the hand that was
not in Mom's cup!)
I never even said anything about boogers on her hand or in mom's water!! Clearly she thought this through.... clearly, we're in trouble if she's this smart already....
*Amelia having a conversation with my mom:
Amelia: My daddy is 21 years old.
My Mom: No, he's 31 years old.
After arguing back and forth with mom for a bit:
Amelia: I'm going to ask my mom....
She comes back to my mother:
Amelia: Well. I guess I was wrong then.

Say what?
The other day, Amelia told me, "I want to 'eclect' leaves like on Wow-wubzy." It took me a bit to realize she meant "collect." I told her we'd get a tub for her to put stuff she finds outside in, so she can have a collection of leaves.
Pierson is (already?!?!?) 9 months!!!
We had Pierson's 9-month check up last week. The boy is 18lbs 1oz, 26.5inches. Still in the 2nd %ile for length, 25th for his weight, and of course, his head is still his biggest feature at around the 50th %ile!
He's always on the move, and playing hard! He's got 2 bottom teeth, and I'm pretty sure he's working on the top two as we speak.
He says "Dada" and "Mama", albeit very rarely. He's definitely not the Chatty Cathy that Amelia was at this age. He claps for fun and dances when music is on. He's totally on table foods and eats almost everything we do. He had pureed foods for about 4 weeks, and was ready to move on. He prefers to feed himself, and will often turn away if you try to feed him.
He's growin' so fast!!

2 ways I know that Amelia is our kid
So as most of you know Beth and I both talk in our sleep sometimes. So about a week ago I went to wake up Amelia to get ready to go. First attempt went like this:
Me: Amelia it's time to wake up...
Amelia: (sits up quickly and looks all around) Where did all the popscicles go?
She them immediatly laid back down and fell back to sleep.
Second Attempt (after I left her room and stopped laughing) went like this:
Me: Amelia! It's time to get up!
Amelia: (this time without moving) Just one more cookie Daddy! Please!!!
I was cracking up hardcore at this point! What a great way to start the day!

Compliments from Kids
Compliments from kids crack me up and Amelia is no exception, that's for sure! Last night she went into the bathroom to go poop. When she was done she called me in to help her wipe and when I was done wiping her she said, with a smile:
"Dad, you are the best bottom-wiper EVER!"
Cracked me up!

P is 6 months!
Pierson had his 6-month check up on July 13th. He's still not the tallest guy in town at 25 inches (2nd percentile--up from 1st percentile at his 4 month check!), but he makes up for it in the weight category at 16lb 13oz (35th percentile). Dr. Amy was also pretty impressed that he makes a "da-da-da" sound! He's definitely more mobile than he ever has been. We no longer find him in the same spot we left him, that's for sure! He's a rock-solid sitter, has been since 5 months.
Pierson at 6 months:
Pierson crawls at 10 days shy of 7 months!! We actually caught on video his first time crawling!! He's been doing a modified army crawl for several weeks, but this is his first time moving forward on his hands and knees.

Too long...
I found this one that I started in July of 2011, so I thought I'd post it because its too funny to not share!!
Ameliaism:
~Amelia with Uncle Jason: Jason came to visit a couple of weeks ago, and he noticed some teeth marks in a foam puzzle piece of Amelia's.
Jason: Amelia, did you chew on this?
Amelia: No, that was Pierson.
Jason: Well, Pierson doesn't have teeth.
Amelia: I might have done it.....

Milk
The other night I was eating oreos and milk. I had Pierson on my lap and Amelia next to me. He kept trying to grab my glass of milk. Amelia laughed and said "Silly Pierson!! You can't have people milk!!" Funnily enough, that's all he CAN have! Haha!

Amelia the Budding Photographer
Amelia asked if she could take some pictures with our camera today. We figured she could take a few. Once she got her hands on it, we couldn't stop her! These are some shots we thought we'd share.
This one's not too bad! I think I'll frame it for her:

Our Chubby Funster
Pierson had his 4 month check up this past Wednesday (5/11). Our boy is 14lbs 6oz (26th percentile), 23 1/4 inches long (1st--yes, that's right, first percentile), and 16 1/4 inch head (25-50 percentile). He's doin' great and growin' up!! He had two shots and fussed the entire time afterwards until we left. The poor fella had a terrible afternoon--when we were leaving the clouds opened up and dumped rain on us before we could get in the car. He was NOT happy, and let us know for several minutes!

Running away....
The other day I was home with the kids on my day off. I was especially exhausted as Amelia hadn't been a very good listener. I didn't think she was paying attention and I told Luke I was gonna run away from home. She said, "Nooo, don't run away!!! I would miss you...." How sweet!!!!
Just now in the car we were talking about that, and I told her I would run away to Kansas. She said, "But your legs would get very tired...." Too smart, this one is!

Playing catch up
So it's been too long since we've blogged. Just have a few stories to post on things Amelia has said/done.
**Indroducing her baby brother to the neighbor boys down the street a few weeks ago:
Amelia: "This is my baby brother. He's the 'rugliest, tugliest' little boy I know!"
**The other night she wanted to watch a movie before bed, so I told her I would set a timer so she could watch it until the timer went off. I told her when it beeped, she had to turn it off and go to bed.
Amelia: "Make it a long timer, this is a long movie!!"
**She's been working on the bowl of jelly beans we have sitting out. She had a bunch of them last weekend when Luke told her no more. She grabbed a couple more, and he said... "Put them back!" She walked toward the bowl, reached like she was putting them back, did a half-turn away from us and stuck the jelly beans in her mouth during the turn. So smooth lemme tell you. Sneaky little turkey.

And so the sibling rivalry starts early...
So this past weekend Beth was having a scrapbooking weekend away with a friend so I was Mr. Mom all weekend. We had a great time together!
However, one of the funniest things that happened this weekend was when Amelia was playing very nicely by herself. Pierson was asleep in his swing, looking very peaceful. All of the sudden, out of nowhere Amelia shoots a grumpy glance at Pierson and says, very sternly "Don't touch MY stickers, Pierson!"
I about fell out of my chair laughing...

You make me laugh!!!
I have Amelia in the bath right now. And during her bath, I'll sit at the computer while she plays with her toys--its where I can sit and see her in the tub at the same time. But sometimes I'll walk away for a brief moment where I can't see her. So I'll say, "Amelia, what are you doing?" Just to make sure she's okay. Because if she answers, obviously she's doing fine!
Tonight I walked to the living room area to show Jaymi something. So I said, "Amelia, what are you doing?" She said, "Why do you always ask me that?" Then she says, "You ask a lot of questions...."
Maybe I've said that to her a couple of times??

Amelia-isms on death and time-out
~While we were in Kansas last week, Amelia asked my mother where her mother was. Grandma died a couple of years ago, so I attempted to explain where she is. I told Amelia that Grammy's mom died. She got a wide-eyed freaked out look on her face. I told her that grandma was very old and died so she could live in heaven with Jesus. She said, "Like when Jaymi's fish died. She flushed him down the toilet, and now he's in fish heaven. Like your mom is in mom heaven (to my mother)." Yeah, close enough....
The next day, she was playing with a stuffed bunny in a dress. She told my mom "Grammy, this bunny can be your mom, since your mom is in mom heaven."
*sigh* These life lessons are great, eh?
~Amelia was just put into time-out a bit ago for not listening. Pierson was very cranky today and it took some time to get him to sleep. He was sleeping when Amelia got home from daycare. She had been bugging him since she walked in the door. We told her many times to leave him be. But alas, she didn't listen, so off to time-out for Millie!
She was sitting in the corner (yes, her nose goes in the corner--it's what works right now) crying a little. Then about 2 1/2 minutes into her time-out, we hear, "Come on....beep." She knows she's released from time-out when the timer goes off. Luke and I had to hide our laughter!!

Haddababyitsaboy!!
So, as most of you already know, our little bundle of joy came two weeks ago!!! We are so excited and happy to have another addition to our family! Pierson Luther Proffitt came on 1-11-11 at 11:11 am, 19.5" long, and 6lb 15oz (111 ounces!).
On Monday afternoon, I went in for my weekly check-up. The office did want to move my Monday appt to Wednesday because the ultrasound tech wasn't able to make it in. But I had been getting high BP readings over the weekend, so I let them know that maybe he'd still want to see me in the office. I did go in, and my numbers were elevated--which meant the medication wasn't working as well anymore, so he decided we'd be induced that evening. He told us to go to the hospital at 10 pm on 1/10.

We got to the hospital that evening and got checked in. But had to wait 2 1/2 hours before we could actually start the induction. There were 4 women who walked in right before me who were already in labor, so the nursing staff had to take care of them first.
So at 12:30 am Tuesday morning, they finally got the induction started. So I cramped and had mild contractions until 7. Dr. Tomjack came in to check me and I was at 4cm, so he broke my water. I was going to try to do it with out an epidural. Around 9, the pain was really bad, and doc said I couldn't do any walking around to manage my pain, so after some bad words and mulling it over, I decided to get the epidural. I could have kissed the anesthesiologist when he came in!!! I told him so.
I was checked right after the epidural was in place and doing its job (it was beautiful), and had already dilated to 10!! I went from 4 to 10 in a little more than an hour!!! The nurse decided at 10:30 to do a "test push" to see how things were going. She asked for a half push, and quickly told me to stop. I guess she didn't want to deliver a baby by herself if she could help it. They called the doctor and the rest of the staff for the birth, and we got ready for go-time. We thought we might actually get our time of 11:11! Everyone was all set up and ready to go at 11:02 so I told the doctor we could go ahead if he was ready. He decided that since the baby was doing fine (according to the heartrate), we could wait and see if we hit 11:11. I think he liked the idea, too! So, we chilled for what may have been the longest 9 minutes of my life (with my legs in the stirrups). At exactly 11:11, the doctor told me to start pushing. In 3 pushes and 45 seconds, our little boy was here!!!!
I kept thinking we were going to have another girl, and was in for quite a shock when I looked down and saw that he definitely was not another girl! We're both still in disbelief that we have a boy!!
Pierson had a "true knot" in his cord--shown above his shoulder.

Just For Fun
Christmas 2010
We had a pretty good Christmas. It was fairly uneventful, really. Amelia let us sleep until 9:30--I figure with her understanding the "Santa gig" this year, it will probably be our last year sleeping in past 6/7. We'll see!
She didn't really notice the presents that Santa left at first, but she did notice the full stockings! We immediately opened presents, and obviously since she's been doing it for years now--she's a pro!
She got Candyland, a marble run set, and a Cat in the Hat DVD from Santa. Luke likes the marble run as much as she does, and has probably played with it more!!
We had a nice quiet day. Luke made a breakfast casserole for brunch and runzas later on for supper! He did a great job--they were both delicious!!
I hope everyone had a fabulous and blessed Christmas!! I know we did--we are so blessed to have our Amelia and each other :)
Santa Visits!!!!
After the Christmas Eve service, we were pleasantly surprised!!!! A gal from church arranged to have her son come over dressed as Santa to visit Amelia!!
She was in using the bathroom and undressing to get into her PJs when I let Santa in the front door. He was standing in the middle of the living room when she came tearing out of the bathroom in her underpants. She stopped dead in her tracks in the middle of the dining room with the most hilarious look of surprise on her face!!!! I wish I had the camera ready for that one!!
She actually did pretty well with him (so no pictures of her crying or screaming). She didn't do much talking, but she did sit next to him on the sofa, and at one point even sat on his lap for a bit. She wouldn't tell him what she wanted for Christmas--even after prompting from me. He sat with her for a bit and gave her a stuffed penguin. All in all, it was a good visit from Santa!! She was waving at him from the front door when he was leaving and saying "Bye Santa!!"
35 & 36 week Check-ups
So we've had another two check-ups fly by! Time sure is zooming since we've been going every week (thank goodness!).
At 35 weeks (12/23), we had another ultrasound for fluid check, but the gal also did all the measurements for baby's size. They guess the baby was about 5# 11oz at that time (70-something percentile). Baby's heart rate was 129, then went up to 150s (I think Baby was sleeping, then woke up during the ultrasound). My blood pressure was really good (128/70). The non-stress test turned out fine also.
At 36 weeks (12/27), we did it all over again! The non-stress test and ultrasound went great. We got to see the baby practice breathing again--such a cool thing to see!! My blood pressure was slightly elevated (138/78), but still acceptable. He did point out that it was up a little from the week before, but he was still okay with it since it still appeared to be responding to the medication. We are at the point that if it starts to go up again, we will just skip bedrest or upping the medication and have an induction. But for now, he'll let me keep being pregnant!!! On a side note, I'm 36 weeks 6 days right now; this is the day in my pregnancy with Amelia that I had her! And another note, I had gained 40 lbs by this time with her. I'm only at 29lbs!!! Go me!!! Our next appointment is this Monday. I'm still hoping to deliver the week after (1/11/11 would be a sweet birthday!!).
I'm feeling great still! Having some trouble sleeping at night, between potty breaks and trying to get comfortable. My hips are starting to hurt, especially after sitting or standing for long periods of time. But I suppose both things are just my body's way of getting ready!!!!
The picture below is from the 36 week ultrasound. Still a beautiful baby if I do say so myself (I'm not biased or anything)!!!
